The Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum (VITM), located on Kasturba Road in Bengaluru, is a renowned science museum established in 1962 in honor of Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya. Operated by the National Council of Science Museums under the Ministry of Culture, it spans over 4,000 square meters and is situated within the green expanse of Cubbon Park.
VITM features nine engaging galleries that bring science and technology to life through interactive exhibits. The Engine Hall showcases a variety of engines and machines, while the “How Things Work” gallery explains everyday mechanical principles. The Fun Science gallery offers hands-on experiments related to optics, perception, and fluid dynamics. Other highlights include the Electro Technic Gallery with high-voltage demonstrations, a Space Technology section developed with ISRO, and a Biotechnology gallery exploring advancements in genetic engineering.
Visitors can also explore the BEL Hall of Electronics, the Science for Kids section with a mirror maze and activity corners, and the Dinosaur Alive exhibit featuring a life-sized, moving Spinosaurus. Additional attractions include a replica of the Wright Brothers’ Flyer with a flight simulator, a 3D theater, and the immersive Science on a Sphere installation.
The museum operates daily from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, except on Deepavali and Ganesha Chaturthi, and attracts over a million visitors annually.
